Trapped penis

Zarobljen penis kod dece
Trapped penis is an acquired condition that results from a defect in the skin of the penis, most often as a result of radical circumcision. Circumcision is a surgical intervention that removes the excess foreskin of the penis. If more skin is removed, a condition occurs where the body of the penis in erection is "trapped" by the short skin.

How is a "trapped" penis diagnosed?

The diagnosis is made by the usual clinical examination of the genitals. Sometimes it is necessary to perform an artificial erection test to confirm this condition.

What are the problems that patients have?

  • Painful erections
  • Penile curvature in an erection
  • Poor cosmetic effect

How is a Trapped Penis Treated?

Treatment is purely surgical.

Complex operative techniques are used, and it is necessary for the operation to be performed by a surgeon, a specialist in the field of urological reconstructive surgery.
Most commonly, a free skin graft or vascularized skin flap is used to cover a skin defect from a previous operation. During surgery, an artificial erection is performed to accurately verify the skin defect.

What does the postoperative period look like?

  • The patient generally stays in the hospital for one day
  • The patient receives antibiotics and pain therapy, if necessary
  • A compression bandage is needed for the next 7 days
  • For wounds on the skin, resorptive stitches are generally used, which break down on their own, so they do not need to be removed.
  • Sexual relations are allowed 4 weeks after surgery
The aim of the operation is to achieve excellent functional and aesthetic results.
